(St. Paul, MN – 7/16/2008)–– “Best of the US” Management and Race Director Jeff Cole invite the triathletes of the Pine Tree State to race at the 19th annual FIREMAN’S SPRINT TRIATHLON / BEST OF THE US MAINE QUALIFIER, a popular sprint distance race that will be staged at Mother’s Beach in Kennebunk, ME on August 24. This event also serves as the official triathlon of the Maine Games.
Among the elite male triathletes we hope to see on August 24 are Stephen Judice (2-time ME BOUS Representative), Greg Hadley, Morgan Laidlaw. Kurt Perham, Zach Soucy, Sean Teel and Tommy McWalters (2007 ME BOUS Representative). Top women we hope to see on the starting line are Nicole Andres, Samantha Bowden, Erin Brennan, Kennebunk’s own Kim Cole (2005 ME BOUS Representative), Katie Herbine (2006 ME BOUS Representative), Kendra Hodder, Britt Hulbert (2007 ME BOUS Representative), Jennifer Mahoney, Elizabeth Martin, Carrie McCusker, Mary Miller, former USAT Athlete of the Year Catherine Payson, Catherine Sterling and Kim White.
The fastest male and female resident amateurs will receive invitations to represent Maine at the “Best of the US National Championship” on October 26 at Tempe Towne Lake in Tempe, AZ. Any combination of the abovementioned male and female triathletes would assure a strong presence for Maine at the Championship.
