Triathlon: Avia Team Athletes Conrad Stoltz And Shonny Vanlandingham Slated To Compete In The Avia Snow Valley XTERRA

Aliso Viejo, Calif. (July 22, 2008) – AVIA, the leader in endurance sports training products, is proud to announce the participation of world champion Conrad Stoltz and AVIA sponsored Luna Pro team member Shonny Vanlandingham in the AVIA Snow Valley XTERRA on August 3, 2008.

Known as “Caveman” on the XTERRA circuit, Conrad Stoltz has won enough trophies to fill a cave. At 34 years old, he has earned the title “King of XTERRA” and boasts a resume that includes three-time XTERRA world champion (’01, ’02, ’07), five-time USA XTERRA national champion and two-time Olympian (Sydney ’00, Athens ’04). Stoltz is the most recognized name in XTERRA and is considered a favorite to win a fourth XTERRA world championship.

As a member of the AVIA sponsored LUNA Pro Triathlon Team, the first-ever women’s professional triathlon team, Shonny Vanlandingham is a pioneer of women’s XTERRA. Last month she made a major mark on the sport with a huge win at the XTERRA Southeast Championship at Oak Mountain State Park in Alabama. Between the momentum lingering from the win at Oak Mountain and a rigorous training schedule, a strong result is expected for Vanlandingham at Snow Valley.

“AVIA is thrilled to be the title sponsor for the XTERRA competition at Snow Valley,” said Ed Goldman, AVIA’s vice president of marketing. “With a world-class course and athletes the caliber of Conrad and Shonny competing, we anticipate one of the most exciting XTERRA races of the season.”

Located in Snow Valley, CA, the course for the AVIA Snow Valley XTERRA includes a 1,000 yard swim in a private lake, an 11-mile bike course and a four-mile trail run. The AVIA Snow Valley Xterra will also host the Kids Duathlon which includes ¼ mile run, one mile bike course and ¼ mile run.
