Triathlon: K•Swiss Makes Its Grassroots Footprint At Ironman

(Westlake Village, CA) October 6, 2008 - Iconic footwear and sportswear brand K•Swiss will be bringing spirit to the masses at the Ironman World Championships as the official run course sponsor in Kona, Hawaii October 6-12, with a host of seven world-class athletes representing K•Swiss U.S.A. and Australia.

In addition to supporting a roster of top, competing athletes, K•Swiss will be introducing a limited edition collection of K-Ona™ commemorative performance shoes for both men and women. World-class competitors including Chris Lieto, Matt Lieto, Luke McKenzie, Paul Amey, Leanda Cave, Katya Meyers, and Kim Loeffler will be wearing the K-Ona as they cross the Ironman finish line on race day, Saturday, October 11.

The limited edition Ironman 2008 Commemorative Shoe collection will serve as a sneak preview for K•Swiss' new, ultra-lightweight K-Ona shoe hitting shelves in Spring 2009. Designed specifically for fast days, race days and triathlons, the K-Ona provides optimum comfort, breathability, stability, drainage and cushioning with its proprietary SUPERFOAM technology, FLOW COOL airflow system, industry leading water drainage, an Si-18® crash footpad, and a k-EVA midsole support. Making the K-Ona the ultimate shoe for an Ironman.

According to K•Swiss Sports Marketing Director, Erik Vervloet "The K-Ona is the culmination of design input from today's top competitors, they have been tested and proven by all our athletes. K•Swiss has been pushing the envelope in technology for more than 40 years, and we believe the advancements in our technical Tri product will help further our athletes and the sport."

Less than 500 pair of early issue commemorative printed shoes will be available for attendees and athletes sold exclusively at select retail areas surrounding the Ironman 2008 week festivities in Kona, Hawaii. The commemorative K-Ona will retail in both men's and women's styles for $120.00 in the Ironman Blue and White, and $110.00 for U.S.A. and Australian flag styles.

The storied brand will also bring some spirited elements to the week's event menu: hosting daily athlete clinics and sponsored events including a blow out, post-race celebration on Sunday, October 12th. Additionally, fans will experience a nod to K-Swiss athletes at Kona's popular meeting spot Lava Java, where guests can choose from featured menu items including the Lieto Latte, and the K•Swiss K-Ona Kup.
