Canadian Running Magazine Editor-in-Chief Michal ‘The Joggler’ Kapral to Appear with Marathon Speaker Series AND Joggle Entire 42.2
Toronto (October 7, 2008) – “Don’t drop the ball!” That’s one thing Canadian Running Magazine editor-in-chief Michal ‘The Joggler’ Kapral will have on mind as he joggles the 29th Annual Royal Victoria Marathon on Sunday, October 12. Joggling is the sport of running while juggling three objects in a traditional cascade pattern, and Kapral will bring spice, entertainment and a competitive edge to the event as he covers the 42.2 distance joggling all the way!
While in Victoria, Kapral will also appear as a guest speaker with the Royal Victoria Marathon Speaker Series on Saturday, October 11 from noon-12:45pm at the marathon expo at the Victoria Conference Centre, 720 Douglas Street – Expo Theatre, Level 2 (free to participants and the general public).
Chasing the Dream: The Joggler's Guinness Book Chronicles
Michal "The Joggler" Kapral, who holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon while juggling three objects, describes his absurd and often hilarious quest to get into the record books. He inspires runners of all levels to keep their dreams alive and offers some wisdom on setting goals to chase down those dreams. Using his own wacky running and joggling career as an example, Kapral outlines a litany of mistakes he made during his humble beginnings as an unprepared marathon runner, and follows up with a discussion on his successful training strategy to win the Toronto Marathon. Hear the strange tale of how he became "The Joggler," eventually setting five Guinness World Records, and landing his dream job as the editor of the recently launched Canadian Running Magazine. Not your average expo seminar, Kapral's tale of initial embarrassment, struggle, and failure, followed by dogged determination and eventual triumph (including sponsorship from a gum maker and a juggling beanbag company), will be sure to bring a smile to the face of even the grumpiest runner.
