Athletics: Arkansas Women's Cross Country Team Ready For NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 11 Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country will run at the NCAA Championships, Monday, Nov. 24, in Terre Haute, Ind. The women’s 6K race is set to go off at 11 a.m. CST at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.

The Razorbacks are making their 22nd appearance at the NCAA Championships. Their highest finish, second on three occasions, came in 1991, 1992 and 1993.

Denise Bargiachi, Megan Jackson, Christine Kalmer, Samantha Learch, Dacia Perkins, Jillian Rosen and Catherine White are scheduled to compete at the 2008 NCAA Championships.

Arkansas, Arizona State, Baylor, Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgetown, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, Oregon, Princeton, Providence, Rice, SMU, Stanford, Stony Brook, Syracuse, Texas Tech, Villanova, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin will compete in Terre Haute on Monday.

For the second straight year, the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports. The broadcast will start at 11 a.m. CST and live streaming of the event can be found at NCAA.com.

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country ranked No. 11 in its most recent poll of the 2008 season, it was announced by the association Nov. 18.

Earlier this week, head Hog Lance Harter was named the South Central Regional Coach of the Year after leading the razorbacks to back-to-back championships at the SEC and NCAA South Central Regional meets. Harter, earning the regional coach of the year award for the 12th time in his career, has led Arkansas to 13 SEC titles in his 19 seasons as head cross country coach.
