OTTAWA - The 2008 AGSI Canadian Cross Country Championships are set to begin on Saturday November 29 in Guelph, ON. Over 750 participants will gather outside of the University of Guelphs Arboretum to take part in the Junior, Senior and Masters Canadian Championships.
2008 Olympians Eric Gillis of Antigonish, NS and Taylor Milne of Callander, ON will be running in Saturdays race for the National Title. Gillis finished second at the 2007 AGSI Canadian Cross Country Championships and won the 2008 10000-metres Canadian Championship. Both men are now living and training in Guelph and will line up to compete in front of the hometown crowd.
Other athletes to watch for include the 2008 Canadian Marathon Champion Giitah Macharia of Oakville, ON and 2008 Canadian 10km Champion Simon Bairu of Regina, SK.
Defending Canadian Junior Cross Country Champion Kendra Schaaf of Carven, SK will line up along with the 2007 runner up Lindsey Carson of Cambridge, ON to vie for this years Canadian Junior crown.

The 2008 AGSI Canadian Cross Country Championships also serve as the selection trials for both 2009 Junior and Senior NACAC Cross Country Championships and World Cross Country Championships.
