Athletics: Ukrainian Ready to take on the La Rochelle Marathon

November 29, 2008 - (La Rochelle Marathon) As an international elite athlete, Anzhelika Averkova is ready for victory at the French La Rochelle Marathon. Ukrainian Averkova has taken on the distance across the world in different countries and has enjoyed top place finishes.

The marathon attacks over 5000 athletes and fast times with the flat course. La Rochelle is a top marathon in France after Paris and the Medoc. The race started in 1991 and continues to grow.

For Averkova, she ran her personal best at the Detroit Free Press Marathon last year in 2:35:57. With her ability to run in the 2:30’s, she will be leading the pack. The female course record stands at 2:31:54 set in 2003.

Motivating and training Averkova is the world-renowned coach Aleksandr Zagoruyko, who trained Tatyana Pozdnyakova, 8-time Runner's World Female Masters Runner. Zagoruyko trains several elite runners.

As Zagoruyko’s athletes continue to perform, Averkova will be no exception this weekend.

In order for Averkova to stay at the top of her game, she looks to the Running Doctor, Dr. Thomas as do the rest of her teammates. Dr. Thomas has a unique approach that both helps to prevent and treat injuries if they do occur. Through muscle stripping, ultrasound, and massage the runners are able to remain healthy and train strong. To learn more you can go to RunningPainFree.com.
