Athletics: Preparing for a New Personal Record

December 5, 2008 - (Memphis) New to the elite running field, Ukranian Svitlana Stanko of Team Global Action is gearing up for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. With a personal best in Italy at the Turin Marathon in 2:43:52 set earlier this year, Stanko is ready for a new record.

The running events this weekend include the Memphis Grizzlies House 5K, half marathon, and the marathon. The number of participants is caped off at 14,000. This is the first year the race has been filled to its capacity.

As the proceeds of the race go towards a worthy cause, last year over a million dollars were raised for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
