December 8, 2008 - Coming in second and third overall for the women and third for the master’s women, Team Global Action scored big this weekend. Galina Aleksandrova, age 32, placed second with a time of 2:37:13, behind Natalia Sokolova, 26, in 2:32:01.
Third place was young 21 year old Abtha Serkalem in 2:39:03. For both Aleksandrova and Serkalem, their fast times and placements are impressive as the two are new to the 26.2 mile distance.
As the top three runners began together, around the half waypoint, Sokolova made her move. She raced the second half solo, while teammates Aleksandrova and Serkalem dueled for their placement.
Master runner at 43, Lyndmyla Pushkina finished third for the master’s women in 2:43:46.
With a fast course and small town vibe, it is no wonder that all 50 states and almost 20 countries are represented at Sacramento race.
