Registration for the Lilac Bloomsday Run, America's largest fully-timed 12 km road race, has opened and represents one of the great bargains in the sport. Early registration through April 19 costs only USD 15, plus USD 1.49 for on-line registration. Moreover, those who sign up by Feb. 15 will have a chance to win a trip for two to one of Seattle's most popular races, the St. Patrick's Day Dash on Mar. 15.
"At this time last year the Inland Northwest was struggling through a winter as challenging as this one," said Bloomsday race director Don Kardong in a prepared statement. "As a result, by the time May rolled around people were really in the mood to get outside and enjoy spring weather. I suspect this year will be the same, so it's not too early to start thinking about signing up for Bloomsday."
Always scheduled for the first Sunday in May, the Bloomsday recorded 43,629 finishers last year. Complete event information and on-line registration is available at www.bloomsdayrun.org.
