OTTAWA -- Athletics Canada is pleased to announce the Manitoba Grand Prix in Winnipeg, MB and the Ocean Athletics High School Invitational in Surrey, BC as the hosts of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Athletics Day 2009.
Held in the month of May for the past 10 years, nearly 140 countries are involved in this initiative to promote athletics to youth worldwide. Events will be offered in two age categories: youth athletes (born in 1992 and 1993) and school based athletes (born in 1994, 1995 and 1996).
As in previous years the IAAF will hold a draw for event champions across the globe with the lucky winners earning a trip to the 2009 World Championships in Athletics held in Berlin, Germany.
