Tim Twietmeyer Featured Speaker, 2nd Annual Rock-n-River Marathon Dinner May 1
RENO, Nev.--Tim Twietmeyer, a Western States Endurance Run record holder from Auburn, Calif., shares his encouraging and inspiring story at the 2nd annual Rock-n-River Marathon's athlete and volunteer dinner May 1 at Harrah's Reno convention center in downtown Reno. Twietmeyer, who was the first male runner to win three consecutive Western States Endurance Runs, is a dedicated marathon racer who participants in events throughout the country and is one of the running world's most well-known athletes. The Western States Endurance Run is a grueling race covering more than 100 miles in 24 hours in which only the most dedicated athletes compete and only the most elite win.
"Running a marathon takes both hard work and inspiration, mental and physical elements Tim is very familiar with as an endurance runner," Doug McCoy, owner of Castle Rock Multisports and producer of Rock-n-River, said. “With his experience, Tim couldn't be more in tune with this mindset just days before the race. We are thrilled to have such an amazing athlete keynote our dinner to help show our appreciation to all the athletes and volunteers who make this marathon possible."
Twietmeyer has participated in more than 65 marathons since he first started running in 1979, and has been featured in a number of different running-focused magazines including Outside, Runners World, Endurance, Ultrarunning, Winning, Competitor and Trail Runner. With more than 25 years of running experience, Twietmeyer has placed first in five of the 25 consecutive Western States 100-Mile Endurance Runs in which he has participated. The race, known as one of the oldest ultra trail events in the world and one of the most challenging, starts at Squaw Valley, Calif., winds 100 miles through Emigrant Pass, and ends in Auburn..
