Students organized race earlier in May to help fund school for girls in Kenya
May 19, 2009 -- Ottawa -- Two of this year's top contenders for the MDS Nordion 10K race -- Jane Kibii and Patrick Makau -- will be meeting with students from AY Jackson this Thursday, May 21st at 11 a.m. for a question and answer period.
The Ottawa Race Weekend is organizing the event in recognition of the great work the students have done to raise funds for the Lwak Girls' School in Kenya. On Saturday, May 9, more than 150 local runners took part in the Run for Kenya, which was organized by A.Y. Jackson Secondary School students. The event raised close to $5,000 for the girls' school.
