John Conley's "Sponsorship Marketing" opens inaugural series on Tuesday, August 25
Running USA has created an inaugural webinar series designed for small- to mid-sized or new-to-the-sport race directors. Participants will receive advice, tools and handy tips from the best in the business.
On Tuesday, August 25 at 1:00pm (MDT), John Conley, CEO of Conley Sports, Inc., will present the first webinar entitled "Sponsorship Marketing". The following will be addressed: What do you do when a sponsorship ends or doesn't materialize? What's the immediate response and how do you move forward?
Conley lived through this scenario when the Austin Marathon lost AT&T and will offer practical steps on how to evaluate your own situation, short- and long-term budgeting and looking for new opportunities. Conley has been involved in the running industry since 1979 and has served in a variety of roles including race director, elite athlete coordinator, sports journalist, professional athlete manager, coach, corporate wellness consultant and athlete. He was named the 2006 Running Times and Road Race Management "Race Director of the Year." The first webinar is free to Running USA members. To register, CLICK here.
On Wednesday, September 16, Kristine Smith, Marketing & Public Relations Manager of Twin Cities Marathon, Inc., will present the second webinar, "Creating Your Media Toolkit". This session will offer insights on creating and managing the relationships with your media partners and will help put the social media tools to work for your event. She'll also cover the importance of having a crisis communication plan in place.
Smith has been with Twin Cities Marathon for four years. Prior to joining the marathon, she was on the communications team at Briggs and Morgan, LLC, a position she took after finishing her masters' coursework at the University of Minnesota. She worked at the local NBC affiliate in Minneapolis and as a conference director and producer for International Communications for Management. She also coordinated marketing at Jim Beam Brands and was a media planner while at Western International Media.
