The 11th Annual Canadian 113, and the 5th Annual Canadian 226 in 2009 will take place on Saturday September 5, 2009, at beautiful Mooney's Bay beach and the Terry Fox Athletic facility. Runners, walkers, triathletes and duathletes will enjoy a fun day full of achieving personal bests while helping those in the community. Ontario's only Iron 226 Triathlon & Duathlon successfully incorporates the Iron 226 Triathlon & Duathlon, the Iron Swim, the Iron 113 Triathlon & Duathlon, the Iron 113 SwimCycle, the Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon, the Try A Tri, the Super Sprint Triathlon, a Canoe/Kayak Triathlon, and the Wylie Ryan Kids' Surf and Turf.
The Canadian Iron 226 Distance Triathlon draws athletes from all over the region who want to test their limits in the one-day event that begins with a 3.8 kilometre swim, followed by a 180 kilometre bike and finishes with a 42.2 kilometre marathon run. Now in its fifth year, the Canadian Iron 226 is the only event of this distance in Ontario. The race starts at Mooney's Bay beach at 6:30 AM. After two loops of the swim course, the athletes will bike 12 loops from Hog's Back to Laurier Avenue along Colonel By Drive. Then they'll run four loops and cross the finish line on the track at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. The leaders are expected to arrive at Mooney's Bay around 3:30 PM.
It is a triathlon and duathlon day like no other!
The day culminates with post race meals and celebrations on site, where the stories of the day are re-lived.
