Head coach Greg McMillan announced last week that his not-for-profit McMillan Elite training group in Flagstaff, Ariz., had kicked off their fall fundraising campaign called "100-100."
"We are entering the critical pre-Olympic years and the athletes are focused on doing everything they can to be ready to make the Olympic Team in 2012," wrote McMillan on the team's website. "As we take the team to new levels, we want you to be involved. To help us raise much needed funds to support the team, we are looking for 100 caring fans to donate $100."
The McMillan group was founded in 2007, and has received the designation of being an "Official Distance Training Center" by USA Track & Field. Athletes in residence include USA road running champions Paige Higgins (25-K, 2008) and Brett Gotcher (20-K, 2009), steeplechaser Lindsay Allen, British steeplechaser Andrew Lemoncello, and 5000m/10,000m runner Ian Burrell. The group is sponsored by adidas.
