CAMBRIDGE, Md. -- (September 21, 2009) - Most teenagers sit around looking at websites all day, Hunter Lussi decided to create one instead. Lussi constructed a website to continue and aid in his fight against obesity. After months of anticipation, America's Tri for Health (go to: AmericansTriForHealth.com) was unveiled earlier this week.
"There's no better way to spread the word of my cause than through this website," said Lussi. "The America's Tri for Health site shows all of the hard work and dedication myself and others devote to fighting obesity," he added.
The website describes how Lussi became so motivated and how he surrounded himself with "Fitness Friends." This core group consisted of friends and family members that shared their healthy habits. Now Lussi hopes to share his fitness tips, or "Hunter's Healthy Habits," with the rest of America.
Not only does he wish to share his tips, but he also wants to form the largest triathlon in the world. Anyone who signs up to participate in the yearly triathlon will become a member of America's Fitness Tri Team and receive a certificate showing their dedication to America's Fitness Tri Team's fight against obesity. Upon completing any portion of their participation of America's Fitness Tri on Labor Day 2010 and reporting their participation on the website, each member will receive a certification of achievement.
Lussi also has numerous partners that believe in his goal to get America more fit. These partners include: Columbia Triathlon Association, BlueSeventy Wet Suits, I Drive Smart, Tenant Consulting, LLC, and Assisted Well Living.
"I strongly feel Hunter is more than motivated, he is a very special young man on a fitness mission for the youth of America," said Robert Vigorito, President of Columbia Triathlon Association. "The fact that he could develop an upscale web site to further his mission, for the youth and adults of today, and to motivate everyone to get fit and make healthy choices is a great accomplishment," adds Vigorito.
America's Fitness TRI
A few years ago, Hunter Lussi took a look at America's and his own physical conditioning and came to a couple of conclusions. He needed to get himself in better shape and he wanted the entire country to get in better shape too. While Hunter has certainly changed himself from a self-professed couch potato into a triathlete, his second goal remains a quest. He would like to see everyone from the President of the United States to an average citizen take part in "America's Fitness Tri" beginning on Labor Day 2010. For this event, and on every Labor Day thereafter, Americans would participate in a 500 yard swim, 10 mile bike ride, and a 2.5 mile run/walk. Not your typical goal for a 16-year old, but a goal nonetheless. You can register for America's Tri for Fitness and follow Hunter at AmericansTriForHealth.com.
