Rio de Janeiro will host the first-ever Olympic Games in South America, all major news sources are reporting minutes after the Interational Olympic Committee's third and final round of voting in Copenhagen. With Chicago and Tokyo eliminated in the first round of voting, Rio beat out four-time bidder Madrid in the third and final round.
According to CNN, Rio had budgeted a massive USD 14.4 billion for the Summer Games, the largest of any of the four finalist cities.
The Games would be held from August 5 - 21 in the coastal city, already famous for its beaches (good luck getting tickets to beach volleyball).
