Athletics: Formula 1 Technology On The iPhone Helps Athletes Get Ahead

RACEYOURWORLD, a revolutionary new iPhone app, is helping athletes to measure their performance using technology normally reserved for the racetrack.

The App pinpoints a user's location and immediately compares the progress of their workout to previous attempts. The athlete can then see whether or not they are beating their own personal best at any given time thanks to a stylish and simple- to-read display on the iPhone.

Alex Petrie, co-founder of raceyourworld explains, "in Formula 1, precise positioning technology is used to tell the pit team where the car is in relation to optimum drives, in real time. Our app allows athletes of all abilities to benefit from exactly the same source of information based on their own previous workouts.”

Once the athlete completes the workout they can visit raceyourworld.com and visualise their race data with the highly innovative map display and in powerful performance charts.

"Whether you are a couch potato or an Olympian, our app will provide an original source of motivation. Imagine you are approaching the end of your workout and you realise you are just a few seconds behind your own personal best time, this will push you to go that extra mile," continued Petrie.

Users of raceyourworld also specify a country to represent, and whether they are running, cycling or wheelchair training. The workout data is then automatically entered into the raceyourworld global competition for each discipline over set distances.

Petrie continues "Not only does our app help athletes of all standards to improve their times; it makes exercise more enjoyable. We all know how hard it can be to maintain our recommended exercise levels and so what better motivation than to find yourself competing against people from other countries around the world.”

In its first week since launch, raceyourworld was used in over 100 countries. Innovative features which allow users to share their races by email, Facebook and Twitter have contributed to the soaring number of downloads.

The raceyourworld iphone app is available from the apple app store free of charge.

A pro version of the app is also available at a launch price of $2.99 / E2.39 / £1.79.
