HENDERSON, Nev. (July 7, 2010) -- There are major changes afoot at the Nevada Silverman Triathlon. Following another exceptionally successful 2009 race, Race Directors' Frank and Meghann Lowery, have made the decision to move the race start from Lake Mead National Recreation Park to the Lake Las Vegas Resort. The Loews Lake Las Vegas will also be the official host hotel for the event.
"We were presented with a unique opportunity in moving the race start from Lake Mead to Lake Las Vegas Resort. We put an enormous amount of thought and consideration of our athletes, volunteers and spectators in the decision to move," said Lowery, Race Director of the Nevada Silverman Triathlon. "The new venue brings the commute from the start of the race to the finish line/expo area 10 miles closer. We will also have a true host hotel, Loews Lake Las Vegas, which will be within walking distance of the start. Athletes can truly get out of bed and walk to the race start, this is something that we have never been able to offer in the past and will be incredibly convenient for our athletes. We are very excited for the future of the Silverman and the excitement that the new venue will inevitably bring."
The venue change is a natural progression for this rapidly expanding event. The Nevada Silverman has evolved from a homegrown race with 300 participants, to a world-class sporting event with more than 1,200 participants expected to register in 2010. The venue change also heralds an exciting new era for the Nevada Silverman Triathlon and its hosts, Lowery's Multisport Races. The company was recently awarded the contract to host the 2011 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, which will be held on the Silverman course. The new venue will add a plethora of amenities and convenience to athletes who will be traveling to Henderson from across the Globe to attend the 2011 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships.

The swim course will change completely with the move, while the bike will only be slightly altered and the run will remain exactly the same.
