PROVIDENCE, RI -- Nearly 700 athletes, ranging from 12 to 76 years old, will converge at Blue Lake Park in Fairview, OR this weekend to compete in the Amica Mid Summer Triathlon & Duathlon.
The Amica Mid Summer Triathlon and Duathlon, a two-day event, kicks off on Saturday, July 31, with the all-women's triathlon and duathlon.
The weekend-long event continues on Sunday, August 1, with a variety of races, including the Amica 19.7 Mid-Summer Sprint Triathlon, sprint duathlon and an Olympic distance triathlon.
Sunday's Amica 19.7 Mid-Summer Sprint Triathlon features a half-mile swim, 16.1-mile bike and 3.1-mile run. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. with the swim in Blue Lake, followed by the bike course, which goes along Marine Drive. The race then finishes with the run course, consisting of one loop through Blue Lake Park and continuing along Marine Drive.
The Amica 19.7 Mid-Summer Sprint Triathlon is part of the 2010 Amica 19.7 Triathlon Series, a sprint distance series of events held throughout the country. It is the fifth stop of Amica's 10-event series, which culminates in Phoenix, AZ, in November.
