Arizona and Southern California will host races this weekend
January 5, 2012 -- Ready to run off some of those extra holiday pounds?
The XTERRA Trail Run Series will begin 2012 with two races in the Western United States this weekend, and both those races are open to runners of all ages and skill levels. Yes, even those who got a little out of shape during the holidays.
The XTERRA Boney Mountain Trail Run in Southern California and the XTERRA White Tanks Trail Run in Arizona are both scheduled for Sunday, January 8.
The Boney Mountain Trail Run will take place at Point Mugu State Park in Newbury Park, California. There will be two courses for runners to choose from -- a 21-kilometer long course, and a 6-kilometer short course.

The White Tanks Trail Run will take place at White Tank Mountain Regional Park in Waddell, Arizona. There will be two courses from runners to choose from -- a 20-kilometer long course and a 7-kilometer short course.

These two races will be the first of more than 60 XTERRA Trail Run Series events around the country in 2012. Seventeen different states will host an XTERRA Trail Run event in 2012.
The series will culminate with the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship in Utah in September, and then the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship in Hawaii in December.
