Defending champions Andreas Raelert and Julia Gajer will return to defend their titles at Sparkasse Challenge Kraichgau presented by KraichgauEnergie. Back to back champion and current world record holder, Raelert will face fellow Germans Sebastian Kienle and Timo Bracht while Julia Gajer will be up against former Challenge Kraichgau champion Yvonne van Vlerken (NED).
Former German Olympian Maik Petzold (Bautzen) will make his middle distance debut and is aiming for a finish on the podium. So are mutliple duathlon world champion Joerie Vansteelant (BEL), Challenge Wanaka champion Dylan McNeice (NZL) and German national champion, Markus Fachbach.
Challenge Kraichgau will also double as the national championships for all German competitors.
CEO Challenge Kraichgau Björn Steinmetz said, “German triathletes have been very successful all over the world. Hosting the Middle Distance National Championship the year after London Olympics is excellent for the event. Middle distance racing requires the speed of an Olympian paired with the skill of endurance. I am looking forward to an exciting race.”
