Athletics: USA Beach Running Championships To Be Held In Cocoa Beach, Florida On October 27

USA Track & Field Sanctioned Event To Feature A Half-Marathon & 10-Kilometer Run

Melbourne, Fla. - Smooth Running, LLC, the producer of several of East Central Florida's most popular triathlons and endurance running events is today announcing that Cocoa Beach will be the home site for the 2013 USA Beach Running Championships.

The event will be staged at the Cocoa Beach Pier and will take runners on a low tide out and back course to and from south Cocoa Beach. The event will offer runners the choice between competing in a half marathon or a 10-kilometer race.

The inaugural USA Beach Running Championships fills the place of the Beach Running World Championships, which has been held the last two years in Cocoa Beach. The Beach Running World Championships grew quickly and attracted hundreds of American and international runners to the sands of Cocoa Beach.

The Beach Running World Championships was recently awarded to South Padre Island near Corpus Christi, Texas and will be held there in November 2013 and 2014.

"We are very excited to call Cocoa Beach home to the USA Beach Running Championships," said event producer Mitch Varnes. "Cocoa Beach is just an awesome beach running venue given the right tide and moon conditions, and we have that going for us this coming October 27."

There are no qualifying criteria to enter, and registration for the USA Beach Running Championships is now open.
