Long-time Photo Partner to Provide All Photos to Quantico Triathlon and Crossroads 4-Miler Participants
QUANTICO, VA (April 9, 2013) - Recognizing that social media has made sharing one’s running experience with friends as important as actually running the event, the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and MarathonFoto, the leader in sporting event photography, have evolved their partnership to include free images for all registered participants in two events organized by the MCM; the inaugural Quantico Triathlon on Aug. 18 and the Crossroads 4-Miler on Sept. 7.
“This service supports the MCM reputation as ‘The People’s Marathon,’ as well as promotes the MarathonFoto brand as a major innovator in sports photography,” explains Gerald Swanson, Vice President Marketing and Sales at MarathonFoto.
MarathonFoto will continue its decades-long role as the on-course photographer for all MCM events. Images will be captured on various terrains as part of the MCM Event Series hosted near Marine Corps Base Quantico, the Marine Corps Historic Half in picturesque Fredericksburg, VA, and the national landmark-laden MCM to be held on Oct. 27.
A team of professional photographers will shoot from multiple pre-determined scenic locations during each event including the triumphant crossing of the finish line.
“Nearly every step at an MCM event offers an important and memorable moment for participants,” says Rick Nealis, MCM Director. “The partnership with MarathonFoto captures pre-race excitement, on-course energy and the emotional moment of crossing the finish line for runners to post, share and treasure.”
In 2012, MarathonFoto took an average of 19 images per MCM runner, exceeding 600,000 total photographs over MCM weekend. All images are viewable online shortly after an event and available for purchase in various forms including digital files, prints or commemorative keepsakes.
“MarathonFoto has been proud to partner with the MCM for more than 25 years,” says Bruce Franke, President, MarathonFoto. “The MCM is a great event. It is an honor to be a part of this unique event, which is truly about the people.”
The distribution of free images will only occur at the Quantico Triathlon and Crossroads 4-Miler. Pictures will be available for purchase at all other MCM events. Registration is open for the MCM Event Series and Marine Corps Historic Half at MarineMarathon.com. Registration for the MCM10K begins on April 17, and registration for the Quantico Triathlon opens on May 15.
