Athletics: Second No Limits Wild Asphalt Run Half Marathon Set for Sat., Oct. 26

More than 1,500 runners competed in inaugural half-marathon & 5K last year to raise over $100,000 for Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter

FORT WORTH -- The second edition of the No Limits Wild Asphalt Run Half Marathon & 5K benefiting Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at Texas Motor Speedway.

Texas Motor Speedway and its 1,500-acre site will once again provide the backdrop for a competitive, sanctioned layout that showcases many of the signature elements of the state's largest sports venue, including the final lap coming on the famed 1.5-mile oval. The running event, which will begin at 8 a.m. CT, also will serve as the official kickoff of race-week festivities for the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR tripleheader set for Thursday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 3.

The motorsports-themed event, produced by The Cowtown Marathon organizers in a partnership with Texas Motor Speedway, drew more than 1,500 runners from 13 states for last year's half-marathon and 5K despite temperatures being in the unseasonably mid-30s for the race start. Kolin Styles, the 2012 Cowtown Marathon champion from Weatherford, Texas, captured the overall title with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 32 seconds.

The one-day running event and expo raised more than $100,000 for Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter, which annually provides grants to children's foundations, charities and programs in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. A portion of the funds also benefited The Cowtown Marathon's C.A.L.F children's running program.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Texas Motor Speedway and Speedway Children's Charities again this year to produce a unique running experience for both serious runners and those just out for fun," Cowtown Marathon Executive Director Heidi Swartz said. "Registrations are strong and we anticipate a record number of participants for the 2013 edition."

The current entry fee is $85 for the half marathon and $25 for the 5k through Friday, Aug. 16. The fees increase to $95 and $30, respectively, through Wednesday, Oct. 16, and $100 and $30 until online registration closes. There also are special rates for corporate, college, school, military and open competition teams.

Multiple sponsorship levels are available, including Texas Motor Sports Victory Lane title sponsorship for the event, as well as five booth options ranging from $400 to $900 for the race-day expo that will be held in the NASCAR garage.

Online registration and event information are available by visiting the event website, For any additional questions as well as sponsorship opportunities and expo booth space, please contact the Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter at (817) 215-8421 or Cowtown Marathon at (817) 207-0224.
