Athletics: Competitor Group and NFL Team Up to Launch 2013 NFL Back To Football Run Series

Back To Football Runs and PLAY 60 Fun Runs for kids finish at the 50-yard line of NFL stadiums, NFL and Super Bowl XLVII Champion Baltimore Ravens to hold NFL Back To Football Run Wed., Sept 4

BALTIMORE - The NFL and Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI) announced the 2013 NFL Back To Football Run Series, which will take place in multiple NFL cities to help get fans ready for the start of the season. The Run Series is highlighted by the NFL Back To Football Run in Baltimore, where fans are invited to celebrate the return of football and the Super Bowl XLVII Champion Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, September 4.

"We are excited to celebrate the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and the city of Baltimore with the NFL Back To Football Run and NFL Play 60 Fun Run the night before the Ravens open the season in Denver," said Peter O'Reilly, the NFL's Vice President of Fan Strategy & Marketing. "We are pleased to be working with Competitor Group to bring the NFL Back To Football Run Series to NFL cities across the country to kick off the 2013 season."

The NFL Back To Football Run Series features 5K and 10K races that will take place in NFL markets across the country. Teams participating in 2013 include the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Redskins. The majority of the running events will take place in conjunction with the NFL's Kickoff weekend (September 5 -- 9), and many will include fan festivals, autograph opportunities and NFL skills challenges.

"We are proud to kick off the 2013 NFL season in such a special way," said Gabrielle Dow, Vice President of Marketing for the Baltimore Ravens. "Our fans deserve a memorable celebration, and running on the field at M&T Bank Stadium will surely be something they will never forget."

The special NFL Back To Football Run and NFL PLAY 60 Fun Run for the Super Bowl XLVII Champion Baltimore Ravens will take place Wednesday evening, Sept. 4 at M&T Bank Stadium. The events will take place in conjunction with a week of festivities, as the Ravens celebrate NFL Kickoff.

A portion of the race's registration fees will be donated to the Ravens Foundation, which is committed to improving, encouraging and enabling the healthy development of youth in the Baltimore area, as well as other parts of the state of Maryland. Through its Play 60 Grant program, the Ravens Foundation annually provides funding of up to $5,000 to qualifying nonprofit organizations that create and/or continue programs or projects promoting physical fitness and nutrition education. One grant beneficiary -- Athletes Serving Athletes -- is a two-year recipient of the Ravens' program and is scheduled to participate in Baltimore's Back To Football Run.

"We are thrilled to see this series embraced by football fans across the country as a way to promote health and wellness while celebrating the return of the NFL season," said Scott Dickey, CEO of Competitor Group. "This is a unique opportunity to work with teams to build a league-wide series of events that are accessible to new audiences. The NFL Back To Football run series also offers teams the opportunity to engage fans, sponsors and local charities in a fun and meaningful way."

The NFL Back To Football Run Series is designed as a fun way for fans to participate and celebrate the opening of the NFL season. Participants will experience the once in a lifetime chance to finish their race on the 50-yard line of the very stadium where their favorite NFL teams plays. Each race also includes a PLAY 60 Fun Run for kids. Local celebrities, media personalities and athletes also will be invited to participate in the races and the events surrounding them.
