Athletics: Canada Army Run registration ending soon

August 29, 2016: Ottawa - National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces: The 9th Canada Army Run is almost here! Don’t miss your chance to participate in this outstanding community event taking place on September 18, 2016. Do not delay, as registration will be closing in less than two weeks, on Friday, September 9. The half-marathon is already 98 per cent sold out and the 5K is 88 per cent sold out. This year’s new addition, the Commander’s Challenge, is entirely sold out.

Canada Army Run, presented by BMO Bank of Montreal, is a unique running event in which Canadians run, walk or roll side-by-side with members of the Canadian Armed Forces in a half marathon or 5K event.

In addition to the running events, there is a full roster of activities lined up for the weekend of September 17 and 18, which includes a military equipment display, the Running Room Sports Expo, live entertainment, and the BMO Kids’ Zone. You can also meet Juno the Army mascot, and, most importantly, support the race participants by cheering them on.

From the cannon used as a starter pistol to the dog-tag-inspired medals given by soldiers to participants, Canada Army Run is military-themed from start to finish. It is an event not to be missed.

About the Canada Army Run:

Canada Army Run, presented by BMO Bank of Montreal, is one of the most inspiring events in the country, where civilians, Canadian Armed Forces personnel, and runners of all ages and abilities run, walk, and roll together to show their pride as Canadians and as runners.

Since 2008, Canada Army Run has raised more than $1.6 million in support of Soldier On and the Military Families Fund - two Canadian Armed Forces financial support programs that provide assistance to ill and injured soldiers and military families in need.

New to this year, the Commander’s Challenge is an official event where participants run, walk or roll officially in both the 5K and half marathon events. Participants who register for this event will receive a unique race bib and shirt, as well as the 5K and half marathon race shirts. Moreover, upon completion of the challenge, participants will receive a special coin in addition to their dog tag medals.

The Canada Army Run race weekend offers something for everyone, including a unique opportunity to interact with your Canadian Army.

Registration details can be found on our website at ArmyRun.ca.
