Athletics: Saucony ® Xodus ISO Named "Editor’s Choice" By Runner’s World In 2016 October Trail Shoe Guide

Brand Continues To Blaze Trail of Innovation, Delivering Award-Winning EVERUN(TM) Experience To Off-Road Runners

WALTHAM, MA (August 30, 2016) - According to the American Trail Running Association, 76% of off-road runners wear trail-specific running shoes when hitting the trails. Saucony, committed to empowering the human spirit through running, continues to blaze a trail of innovation by once again delivering an award-winning experience to trail runners everywhere. The brand is excited to announce that the Saucony Xodus ISO, now with EVERUN, has been named "Editor's Choice" in the Runner's World 2016 October Trail Shoe Guide.

To capture the prestigious award, the Xodus ISO, featuring Saucony’s EVERUN Topsole construction, received high marks from the Runner’s World shoe lab, its wear-testers and editors for the October Trail Shoe Guide.

"The Xodus ISO is a tank that excels over rocky, root-filled trails," said the Runner’s World review of the shoe. "In this update, Saucony opted for a proprietary outsole, which our wear-testers found gripped everything they threw at the shoe—wet and dry—and showed little signs of wear even after 100-plus miles. The chevron-shaped lugs run from edge to edge but are flattened on the bottom so the shoe also rides smoothly on stretches of road. The ride has been softened, thanks to a 3 mm-thick layer of bouncy foam placed directly below the sockliner, and the upper has been refined with a flexible midfoot cage to reduce the risk of irritation. The result is a plush shoe that’s rugged enough for long days over any trail."

"The Xodus is in the spotlight once again, now with the introduction of a full EVERUN platform along with Saucony’s ISOFIT(TM) system," said Doug Smiley, business unit manager for Saucony running. "This integration means unparalleled protection underfoot, an exceptional dynamic fit and a more responsive ride, no matter how long the trail. There are more opportunities than ever for runners to go off road; when they do, we want them to have the best experience possible. This recognition from Runner’s World again proves that our relentless commitment to innovation allows us to elevate the runner’s journey and experience wherever they choose to run."

"This [Xodus ISO] has plenty of toe room and the form fits the rest of my foot," reported a Runner’s World wear-tester. "My favorite feature is the cushioning: I like the spring provided and the barrier between the rocky trail and my foot. The traction is great on trails that include rocks, gravel, and stream crossings. Definitely my favorite trail shoe!"

This is the fourth Runner’s World Editor’s Choice Award for the brand’s Run AnyWhere(TM) trail shoe series over the past 12 months. The Saucony Xodus 6.0 was named Editor's Choice in the publication’s 2015 Fall Trail Shoe Guide as well as International Editor’s Choice for "Best Trail Shoe of 2015." The Peregrine 6, featuring Saucony’s EVERUN heel insert, was named Editor’s Choice in the 2016 Spring Trail Shoe Guide.

About the Saucony Xodus ISO:

  • ISOFIT creates a dynamic fit system by adapting to the shape and motion of the foot
  • Super-tacky PWRTRAC Rubber provides three-times better traction than standard rubber
  • EVERUN Topsole construction for enhanced energy return and continuous cushioning throughout the run. EVERUN delivers two key benefits:

Lowers Peak Pressures:

EVERUN’s patent-pending Topsole construction process positions a 3mm layer of Saucony’s revolutionary EVERUN foam material closer to the foot, directly under the sockliner, instead of embedding it in the midsole below a layer of rigid cement. This construction process distributes propulsion force over more area, reducing local peak pressures while delivering a dramatically more lively and responsive ride.

Absorbs Impact:

The EVERUN Landing Zone and heel insert provide remarkable impact protection, maintaining cushioning properties three times longer than standard EVAs while returning 83% of the energy absorbed, according to research in the Saucony Human Performance and Innovation Lab.

Typical EVA foam heats up, getting softer the longer the run just when the body fatigues and needs impact protection the most. The EVERUN technology addresses this breakdown of cushioning and consequently, joint protection, in running shoes during the course of a run.

The Xodus ISO is now available at select specialty run retailers in men’s sizes 7-13 and 14 and women’s sizes 5-12. The suggested retail price of the Xodus ISO is $130.00. To find a retailer near you, call 800-365-4933 or visit www.saucony.com.
