  WOMEN IN SPORT
2003: Dr Richard Budgett, in which he discusses the consequences of trans women competing in women’s sport. responding to a government inquiry, Budgett, then at the British Olympic Association, states: “the effect of allowing male transsexuals to compete as women would be to make competition unfair and potentially dangerous in some sports and would undermine women’s sports.”.
2021: "Everyone agrees that trans women are women" .
2022: The science has not changed - the politics have!
June 2022: The World Athletics president, Sebastian Coe, has hailed swimming’s decision to ban transgender women from elite female competition as in “the best interests of its sport” – and hinted that track and field could soon follow suit.
July 2022: British Triathlon has announced that for athletes over the age of 12, there will be two categories; a Female Category, (for those who are the female sex at birth), and an Open Category, (for all individuals including male, transgender and those non-binary who were male sex at birth
November 30, 2022: Disappointingly World Athletics kicked the transgender "can" down the road to March 2023. The question is why? The science is clear and it is settled - men have an unfair advantge over women in sport. Stop trying to pretend otherwise.
January 21, 2023: World Athletics proposals to preserve path for trans women in female category.
Jamuary 22, 2023: Given Coe's previous strong stements about protecting female athletes one wonders if the pressure to include males in female sport is coming from someone else?

Running Periodization: Training Theories to Run Faster Running Periodization: Training Theories to Run Faster

Jason Karp (Author)
A groundbreaking and fascinating discussion of the theories of run training, from bestselling author, coach, and exercise physiologist Jason Karp, PhD, MBA.
How do you know the precise combination and best order of workouts that will enable you to run faster? How do you know the right time to do another workout after doing a workout on Tuesday? How do you individualize training for runners of different strengths, weaknesses, adaptive abilities, developmental ages, and time frames?
Sometimes, you need to break the rules.
In the groundbreaking book, Running Periodization, Jason Karp, PhD, MBA explains a variety of training theories using theoretical and historical frameworks, scientific research, and documented empirical evidence from the world's best runners to discover how to optimally train. The book shows runners and coaches how to design training programs using several periodized approaches, including linear periodization, reverse linear periodization, block periodization, and undulating periodization, as well as how to periodize training for high school and college runners, strength training, and even a woman's menstrual cycle.
Running Periodization shows you how to work on your training, not just in your training, to make you a world-class training strategist and the best runner you can be.
