Athletics: Health And Fitness Expo Presented By The Miami Herald And El Nuevo Herald Gets New Location

The annual Health And Fitness Expo that traditionally ushers in Miami Marathon race weekend has a new location in 2016.

The Expo, to be held January 22-23 and presented by The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald, will move to the Mana Event Hall in the culturally diverse Wynwood neighborhood of downtown Miami.

Wynwood is a bustling neighborhood, home to a lively art scene and eclectic wall murals designed by more than 50 artists that have revived the old warehouse district. The Expo will have a more artsy feel this year with the presence of local celebrity artist Jenny Perez and a live performance of the new Miami Marathon theme song "Go!", written by Race Director Javier Sanchez and performed by local band El Side Project.

Perez will showcase the official 2016 Miami Marathon Finisher medal neck ribbon, which she has designed. She also will do live painting and present some of her work.

The Expo serves as a prelude to the January 24 Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, produced and presented by Life Time - The Healthy Way of Life Company, and is the premier event for anyone interested in running, walking, health, nutrition, or fitness-related information.

The Expo will house more than 100 booths and interactive areas where the public can obtain the latest in running shoes and apparel and sample products. Packet pick-up for all race participants takes place at the Expo and last year more than 50,000 people took advantage of the two-day event.

The final spots in Sunday's Miami Marathon and Half Marathon will also be sold at the Expo.

Expo hours will be Noon-7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is Free.

About the Miami Marathon

The Miami Marathon is Florida's elite distance race weekend with over 25,000 runners representing all 50 states and more than 80 countries converging on Miami and South Beach to experience one of the most unique courses in the world. The race has come a long way since 3,400 runners participated in the first Miami Marathon in 2003. Participants include elite runners, top age-group competitors, and many thousands who run for charity and to achieve their own personal goals. Together they enjoy the tropical views and the sounds of South Florida, with a diverse array of entertainment blended into the experience, and generate more than $50 million in total economic impact for the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County.
